Vitra Goodies

Milan 2011 saw Vitra excelling themselves on new products. With the introduction of nine new products, some of which are available before the end of the year, Vitra and their resident designers have added greatly to their growing collection of home and office furniture.

Tip Ton is one of the exciting new designs from Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby, a forward tilt-able all plastic chair that is stackable, durable, 100% recyclable and available in eight colours.

The Vitra Tip Ton Chair can be tilted forward from a normal position and will remain stationary at a nine degree angle so that the user can lean forward. Now here comes the science-y bit; the angle of tilt allows the users pelvis and spine to straighten (as opposed to slouching forward), improving circulation through the stomach and back muscles and achieving a more comfortable seat.

Suita Fauteuil is the latest edition to the Suita family by Antonio Citterio, offering a compact armchair that compliments the rest of the range beautifully. Suita Fauteuil has a deep, softly padded seat with long armrests that blend elegantly into the high back which is bolstered with a neck cushion for extra comfort.

The formal design along with the characteristic aluminium frame base make it a suitable choice for home and public places such as lobbies and reception areas in hotels and offices. The chair can be upholstered in fabric or leather with the choice of firm or soft cushions.

L’Oiseau, a simple bird designed by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, without any other function other than to provide a caring presence and pleasant company.

Jill is the very latest product by Vitra to be launched this year with production starting imminently. Jill is inspired by the early works of plywood and laminate wood moulding and explores the modern boundaries of this technique. Using a patented process laminated sheets are twisted like ribbon until they meet one another in the seat.

Available in three wood finishes, black ash, natural oak or black pigmented walnut with either a chromed tubular steel base or powder coated in the following colours: ivory, chocolate, ice-grey and raspberry. Seat covers are available in poppy red/champagne, yellow/mustard, cognac, khaki, ice-grey, grey-stone and ice-grey/brown.

Most items are now available to order from all Vitra dealers, with the rest due for release in the new year.
