Pink Apple are always on the lookout for new collections to add to their portfolio.
The latest additions are Gubi, a Danish manufacturer of lighting and furniture and Race Furniture, a British based company, both with a rich history of design and manufacturing.
At Gubi, we’re on a continual quest, fuelled by our passion to discover overlooked icons from the past and future icons in the making. We’ve made a distinctive name for ourselves in the international design arena as a dynamic design force to be reckoned with.
Race Furniture was founded immediately after the Second World War, under the design direction of Ernest Race who, before the war, had earned a strong reputation for textile and interior design.
Race was inspired by new technologies and materials developed during the War and was one of many companies that was encouraged to work with alternative materials in order to preserve the countries limited reserves of timber. Ernest Race’s first design, the BA3 chair, utilised re-cast aluminium from redundant British warplanes. The upholstery was often made from parachute silk. Recognition of Race’s design genius culminated in his designs for the 1951 ‘Festival of Britain’ terrace furniture.
Today Race Furniture continues production of these significant designs, using archive material, it carefully ensures that the collection is manufactured as originally intended.
