Interior Trends 2011-2012

Twice a year, fashion takes centre stage (quite literally) informing us what we should be buying in the following season.

Now it’s not just the clothes or shoes we wear that are becoming the fashion focus – home interiors are also getting in on the act. Elle Decoration have compiled the Trend Report 2011-2012, a definitive guide to next seasons must haves in interior decoration, furniture design, lighting and accessories.

From the Trend Report we’ve put together our key pieces for next season, including Statement Lighting, Natural Materials, Colour Trends and all the little micro trends that you can creep into the house without the other half seeing…

Statement Lighting

From Left to Right: Foscarini Behive, Kartell Bloom & Foscarini Chouchin.

Natural Materials

Piani by Ronan Bouroullec for Flos

Colour Trends

Citrus Brights, statement pieces or subtle dashes of colour, zingy yellows, limes and oranges are big news for the coming Spring, injecting some much needed life into your home after another cold and dreary winter.

Top to bottom: Rive Droite by Cappellini, Masters Chair in Rusty Orange and FL/Y Lamp both for Kartell.

LED Lighting

An interesting fact about LED lights: The operational life of current white LED lamps is 100,000 hours. This is 11 years of continuous operation, or 22 years of 50% operation. The average life of an incandescent bulb is approximately 5000 hours. What a difference! (plus you’re doing your bit for the environment and reducing your electricity bill!)Outlines (aka ‘skinny’ furniture & lighting)

a refined, elegant trend which is made to look like a simple line drawing has come to life in 3-dimensional form, with a palette of inky black and bone white.
