Drink > Recycle > Chair

In 2006, Coca Cola approached Emeco with a proposal.

Their brand new recycling plant in South Carolina was processing thousands of plastic bottles a day and they were looking for ways to show the value of recycled plastic. Coca Cola had the ingenious idea of producing a chair, made entirely from rPET recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate (recycled plastic bottles to you and me).

The design is based on the classic Navy Chair and is made from a combination of 60% PET, a special combination of pigment and glass fiber for strength. In total, 111 Coca Cola bottles are used in the making of one chair, therefore giving the chair the name 111 Navy Chairâ„¢.

The 111 Navy Chairâ„¢ is available in six colours: Red, Snow and Flint (which can be used indoors and outdoors) and Grass Green, Persimmon and Charcoal.

Since its launch in April 2010, production of 111 Navy Chairs has kept over 3.5 million bottles out of landfills. That’s an awful lot of recycling guys – keep it up!
